Abasand Heights is a nice little neighbourhood on the located on a hillside south side of Fort McMurray. The northern boundary is created by the Athabasca River. Abasand Heights is north of the Beacon Hill community on the west side of Highway 63. Abbotswood Drive and Abasand Drive lead into the community. A bridge is provided over the highway to by-pass traffic with easy access to both public and industry transit makes this location an easy commute to downtown or work.
The population of Abasand Heights in 2015 was 4,893 with 1758 dwellings according to a municipal census conducted by the R.M of Wood Buffalo. The area saw significant damage during the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire . Homes are actively being rebuilt.
