The population of Abasand Heights in 2015 was 4,893 with 1758 dwellings according to a municipal census conducted by the R.M of Wood Buffalo. The area saw significant damage during the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire . The community of Abasand is almost completely rebuilt.
